Some people think that portable DVD players aren’t really worth buying. But in fact nothing could be further from the truth because there are lots of reasons why one would come in handy.
The best example of all concerns long journeys. Have you ever gone anywhere with the family only to find the kids arguing and saying how bored they are ten minutes after you have left home? Keeping them entertained on a car journey can be hard work.
But the task is made a lot easier if you have a portable DVD player and a stock of suitable films or programmes they can watch. If you are going to do this it is a nice idea to get the kids to choose their own discs to take, so they are involved with the process. And of course they know better than anyone else what they want to watch.
There are other times when you will be glad of a portable DVD player when you are on holiday as well. No matter where you might be going you aren’t going to have all the usual home comforts that the children will be used to. And depending on their age they may also be a little unsettled when it comes to sleeping in a different house or apartment.
In this case it is nice to have a portable DVD player to fall back on because you can let them watch it in bed at night. They won’t get into bad habits doing this because it can be something that is saved only for holiday time. This makes it more special and you can get them to bed slightly earlier than usual and sit with them while they settle down and watch something. Provided it isn’t too hyper they will still nod off to sleep relatively easily.
As you can see this provides an ideal time to have some family time too. And since not all holiday venues will have a television or DVD player included anyway, it is useful to know you can take your own one with you. It might have a smaller screen but the kids will find it ample enough for their needs.
So the next time you are planning on going on holiday – wherever that might be – think about taking a portable DVD player with you. Not only will the kids enjoy it, you will benefit from it too.
