Price is one of the most important aspects for anyone who is considering buying a portable DVD player. But are the cheap ones really worth buying or should you consider getting something a bit more expensive? How much does price matter in this case?
A lot depends on the kind of portable DVD player you want. For example some of them are designed specifically to be used in cars. These can come with two separate screens to be attached to the front headrests, so those sitting in the back seats can see them. Obviously this kind of kit will be more expensive.
But if using it in the car is not a big requirement you would probably be better off with a small and basic model. When you think of any additional items you need to go with it – a case would be the most obvious one – you will see that there are other items you need to buy as well. This means the amount you spend on your DVD player is not the only thing you need to think about.
A lot will depend on the brand name as well. You could buy a well known brand name portable DVD player such as Sony or Toshiba for example. But if you are not worried about the brand and you don’t particularly want a well known one you could save money by buying a lesser known brand instead. It all depends on your budget and on how much you like a specific name.
More expensive models will be more versatile though, so this is something to bear in mind. For instance a pricier model will usually have a swivelling screen so it can be positioned exactly where you want it. The cheaper version will be nothing more than a basic opening player, where you open it much like a basic notebook.
Other more expensive models may come with added extras as well. For instance instead of buying a case separately you may be able to buy a DVD player with one included. This might be cheaper than actually buying the two items separately.
So you see it is important to think about the pricing before buying your chosen DVD player. It could be that a slightly more expensive one is more versatile and pleasant to use, which will make it a better one to opt for in the long run.
