The Ever Lower Prices Of Portable DVD Players

Friday August 13, 2010

There used to be a time when portable DVD players were a new thing and consequently were quite expensive. But now things have changed and the prices are coming down all the time.

For example it is quite normal to have a seven inch screen on a DVD player you can carry around with you. This makes it nice and compact without it being too small to see. Lots of the cheaper models have this size screen on them, and you would be surprised at how cheap some of them are.

If you shop around you will be able to find some quite easily for less than fifty pounds. This makes them ideal for gifts as well as for your own use. You can buy more expensive ones of course, but if you only want something for casual use or to keep the kids quiet, there is little point spending a lot of money on them. A cheap model will be far better in many respects in this situation. And if it does eventually break or doesn’t work any more, you haven’t invested lots of money in it. This means buying a new one won’t be too much of a problem.

The question is what kind of DVD player you want to buy. The cheaper models do indeed look cheaper and as such they may not fit the bill for you if you want something that looks really nice. For example there is a nice Philips model that is available for just under £200 in many outlets. This does look far nicer than the cheaper £30 or £40 models you can find.

So it all depends on your own personal choice really. And there is no doubt that the more advanced models do have more to offer. It just depends on whether you want to spend that amount of money on one. If you don’t or you only have a small budget, it’s good to know that you can buy a much cheaper model that will serve the purpose.

The big question is how low these prices will go in the future. Could they end up being even lower than around £30, or will some other piece of technology come along and take over? It all remains to be seen but at the moment it is nice to have the best range to choose from.
